First blog from Cape Town!

20 november 2015 - Kaapstad, Zuid-Afrika

ViewHello everyone!

Hereby our first blog from Cape Town, South-Africa! We had very good long flight and we survived the eleven hours high in the sky. At the moment we are staying at The Backpack hostel and our second day is almost finished now.

The Backpack is a very good hostel and it is definitely a recommendation! We are having a swimming pool, nice breakfast and good beds. There are staying two other boys in our room. One is from Afghanistan we think, or maybe United States we are not sure about it. And the other guy is of course from the Netherlands! He was a little in shock when he saw there were six Dutch girls in the room after a 18 hours flight.

Camps Bay

Yesterday we had our first day off and we went to Camps Bay. This is a very beautiful spot near the beach with a nice boulevard and a lot of restaurants. Together with project group B, who existing of six cozy girls, we had lovely lunch with a lot of food. To make sure this trip will be awesome we started with a little cocktail in the sun. The rest of the day we spent in the hostel. In the evening we had a dinner with the whole group in a burger restaurant full of men.

Today we had to get up early to go to Robben Island. This is the island where Nelson Mandela was prisoner for 18 years. The boat trip to this island was horrible because of the wind and a lot of students were seasick. Finally it was worth it and it was an impressive day. We did a bus tour to see the whole island and we ended this excursion with a small talk from an ex prisoner.

We saw the whole prison and the cell of Nelson Mandela. In the afternoon we wanted to visit the Table Mountain but due to the bad weather it was not possible to do this. So we hope we can do it later during this trip.

Now we are sitting in the kitchen of our hostel after a self made dinner. Tomorrow we have to get up early again because we are going to visit Cape Point. This is a full day trip so we have to go to bed very early, maybe we have to go now!

Baie dankie vir die lees.Robben island
